The Ohio Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program is one of several energy-related programs of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that is administered by the Ohio Department of Development's Energy Resources Division. The goals of the Program are to spur interest in, and sales of, selected ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances in the State of Ohio, provide a smooth and transparent customer-focused experience for Ohio residents when they purchase, reserve, and redeem their rebate, and reduce energy use and emissions. The total funding allocated to the State of Ohio for the rebate program, including administration, is $11,020,000.

The State of Ohio is currently finalizing program details for launch on March 26, 2010. Beginning on March 26, 2010, Ohio residents can reserve and redeem their rebates for the purchase of eligible ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances. Purchases made prior to March 26, 2010 are not eligible for a rebate. The new appliances will replace old inefficient appliances and help Ohio consumers to lower their energy and water bills. New appliances must be purchased during the Program, and old appliances must be hauled away and recycled so they are no longer used. The eligible ENERGY STAR® appliances include:

  • Refrigerators,
  • Clothes washers,
  • Dishwashers,
  • Electric heat pump water heaters, and
  • High-efficiency gas storage water heaters.
