Kids Gardening Contest

Get the kids involved in growing a vegetable garden and learning where their food comes from.   Encourage your children to start a garden. Cultivate the green thumb in your child and have some fun in the dirt! Stop by the garden center for Heirloom tomatoes, vegetable plants, seeds and seed starter kits to get the kids growing. 

Send us digital pictures of the kids in their garden so we can post them on our website.   Vote for the best children’s garden online at www.rencks.com.  Winner will receive a $50 gift certificate from Renck’s Garden Center and an assortment of gardening gifts. 

We will need contact information ex. child’s name, address, phone number and email address.  (Only names will be listed on website for voting purposes.)

Weed Free Zone kills over 80 of the nastiest broadleaf weeds in the yard.  Included are weeds such as dandelion, henbit, thistle, ground ivy, poison ivy, chickweed, wild onion and many more tough weeds in your lawn. 

Weed Free Zone can be applied in the spring, summer and fall season.   Ideal time is spring and fall to reduce the risk of stress on the lawn if temperatures are above 90 degrees in the summer.   Reseeding areas can be done two weeks after application of this product.

April Landscape Tips 
  1. Maintain all landscape beds with 2-3” of mulch.  Fertilize landscape and perennial plants.
  2. Prune evergreen shrubs.   Prune flowering shrubs after they bloom.
  3. Fertilize spring flowering bulbs after the bloom to build strong bulbs for next year’s flowers.
  4. Divide perennials if needed remove any damaged or diseased root stock.  Fertilize new and established beds.
  5. Remove protective covering from rose bushes after the threat of hard frost is past.
  6. Fertilome Dormant oil can be sprayed on fruit trees in early spring and on evergreens in the landscape to prevent spider mites.
  7. Clean leaves and debris from ponds.  Check pumps and filters before start up.
  8. Start feeding fish when water temperatures gets to 50 degrees.
  9. Divide water plants if needed and fertilize.
