Ohio Certified Nursery Technician Program
Renck's Landscaping & Garden Center is proud to employ 7 Ohio Certified Nursery Technicians. What is an Ohio Certified Nursery Technician (ONCT) you might ask? The ONCT program is sponsered by the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association (ONLA). The program is more than 20 years old. There are three areas of specialization Garden Center, Landscape and Grower. A test is given to become an ONCT in each area. If an individual passes all three tests, "Master" Technician status is achieved. Basic as well as specific information is tested. The manuals were written by college professors and specialists in the green industry. In order to take the test an individual must have worked in the green industry full time for 6 months or 500 hours part time. Becoming an ONCT shows an employees commitment to the profession and is an impartial third-party endorsement to their knowledge and experience. Certification is good for three years. In order to remain certified three training credits must be accumulated. Credits are accumulated by attending seminars, educational programs and other functions from a Certification Committee approved list.
